This page will keep you up to
date with what is happening on our server network. All
the servers we use are hosted by our professional datacentres,
and managed 24x7 by our technicians and
server administrators.
Should a hosting issue occur with
one of the servers or server networks, it will
immediately appear on this page, however our datacentre
technicians will usually have already identified the
issue, and will be working on resolving it as soon as
they can.
Please don't be alarmed if there currently
appears to be an issue with a server, as we operate this page
independently from the datacentres.

Megacom Network-ProHostNet are proud to offer domain
registration services via our online ordering system.
You can manage your own domain registration, transfers,
and renewals online. You'll receive automatic email
notification when it is time to renew your domain. Do it
yourself, or we can do it for you.

Xtra/Telecom to block all outbound (SMTP) traffic on
port 25:
Xtra/Telecom has announced a plan to block all outbound
traffic on port 25 by the end of April 2006. When Xtra
makes this change it will mean that all ProHostNet
hosting customers using XTRA as an ISP will not be able
to send email through our outgoing SMTP mailservers.
This can easily be resolved.
To Fix: Set your outgoing mailserver (SMTP) to 'smtp.xtra.co.nz'
Outlook 2003: Open Outlook > Select the 'tools' pull
down menu then 'Email accounts'> Select 'View or change
existing email accounts' then the 'Next' button > Select
your ProHostNet account 'mail.yourdomain.co.nz' and then
the 'Change' button > Change the 'Outgoing mail server
(SMTP)' field from 'mail.yourdomain.co.nz' to 'smtp.xtra.co.nz'
Outlook Express: Open Outlook Express > Select the
'tools' pull down menu then 'Accounts' > Go to the
'Mail' Tab > Select your ProHostNet account 'mail.yourdomain.co.nz'
and then the 'Properties' button > Go to the 'Servers'
Tab > Change the 'Outgoing mail server (SMTP)' field
from 'mail.yourdomain.co.nz' to 'smtp.xtra.co.nz'

iHug Hosted Websites Hacked & Defaced:
It has been reported in the NZ media, that nearly 600
websites, mainly hosted by iHug, have been hacked and
defaced. iHug is a web host provider that is owned by
Vodafone New Zealand. The websites were hosted with ISP
Quik which iHug purchased last year. Theu have been
hacked by a Turkish hacker using the name iSKORPiTX.
This issue has not affected any websites that are hosted
by us on the Lounge Network Server Cluster. If you are a
Quik or iHug customer, and are interested in shifting
your website to our network, please contact us by
